2012 Florida International Wine Competition

Tasting Notes

The plump, rich strawberry, cherry, and plum fruit is immediately appealing when first poured, feeling soft and rich. The zesty mineral edge lends to a spicy long finish. The robust fruit coupled with high acidity and soft tannin makes this one of the best, most versatile food wines, which can carry everything from meat dishes to certain seafood, especially sauced.

Winemaker Notes

The 2009 Barbera is estate grown in an area of the vineyard that allows the grapes a longer ripening period (hang-time) while maintaining natural acidity. This multifaceted wine was fermented and aged in French oak barrels for 15 months allowing the expansive development of rich, dark cherry, strawberry, and plum flavors. Immediately appealing when first poured, feeling soft and rich. The robust fruit coupled with high acidity and soft tannin makes this a versatile food wines.
